You should always start with puppy potty training at a young age. Very young puppies do not have any control over bladder and bowel movements. When a puppy is big enough to explore his surroundings you should start training him for his potty habits. Puppy potty training involves taking a puppy to the place where you want him to relieve himself. It may be difficult to keep track of his schedule but the most common timings would be after meals and when he wakes up from sleep.
He will start smelling the place before he goes for potty. In puppy potty training the sense of smell plays a very important part and you can use this to your advantage. A simple trick is to clean the place where you do not want him to mess up so that there is no odor left and if possible place something that reminds him of his potty where you want him to go. Now you can do this trick in many different ways but this is one of the basic ones.
